Most vikings did not live in towns. They lived on a farm or in a small community by the sea . A typical viking home was called a longhouse , because it was very long! When a viking woman got married , she went to live with her new husband and his parents . Longhouses were always full of children from toddlers to teenagers. In fact , when were abouts 15 or 16 they were already grown -ups . In viking towns , the houses were smaller , but they were very close together , so the neighbours never far away!
